From Design to Assembly: The Timeline of the Viking Hall/Boat Shelter In this blog post, we will take you through the step-by-step timeline of the construction of the Viking Hall/Boat Shelter at our Viking Camp in Maryland. Our non-profit organization, Odin's Warrior Tribe is composed of primarily active and veteran military members and families, and we support veterans. This project is a significant part of our mission going forward. Starting in 2024, we will focus on fundraising efforts to gather the necessary resources for the project. We believe that with the support of our community, and partners, we can make this vision a reality. Fundraising is a crucial step in any construction project, and it allows us to involve the community in our mission. We encourage everyone to contribute and be a part of this meaningful endeavor. Once the fundraising phase is well underway, we will be finalizing the design and plans of the Viking Hall/Boat Shelter and ordering the required wood and materials. This stage is crucial as it ensures that every aspect of the Viking Hall/Boat Shelter is carefully planned and executed. We will work closely with designers to create a structure that not only serves its purpose but also reflects the spirit of the Viking heritage. In 2025, construction will begin at a construction facility in Connecticut where workshops in woodworking, timber framing, and joinery for veterans will be held. These workshops will not only contribute to the assembly of the Hall/Boat Shelter but also provide an opportunity for veterans to learn traditional vocational woodworking skills, timber framing, and joinery. It is our aim to empower veterans and provide them with a sense of belonging and purpose. By involving them in the construction process, we hope to reignite their warrior virtues and foster a strong sense of camaraderie. Finally, in 2026, the Hall/Boat Shelter will be rough assembled in Connecticut then broiken down for transport to our Viking Camp in Maryland for final assembly. The Viking Hall/Boat Shelter is a low impact building that will not have a conventional foundation and that can be disassembled and moved. Every piece will be labeled and there will be a master plan. This allows for maximum flexibility. The Viking Hall and Boat Shelter will serve as a place for events, shelter, and maintenance of our Viking boat, further enhancing the experiences and support we offer to veterans. It will be a symbol of our commitment to honoring and supporting those who have served our country. We are excited about this project and the positive impact it will have on veterans and their families. The Viking Hall/Boat Shelter will not only provide a physical space for events and activities but also serve as a reminder of the strength and resilience of our veterans. Stay tuned for updates as we progress through each stage of the timeline, bringing us closer to the completion of the Viking Hall/Boat Shelter. If you would like to support our cause, please consider making a donation or getting involved in our fundraising efforts. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our veterans and provide them the sense of camaraderie they felt on active duty.
