Building a Viking Hall/Boat Shelter: Odin's Warrior Tribe's Ambitious Project

Are you a veteran or someone who supports veterans? If so, you'll be excited to hear about Odin's Warrior Tribe's ambitious project to build a Viking Hall/Boat Shelter at their Viking Camp in Maryland. This three-year program aims to provide a place for events, shelter, and maintenance of their Viking boat, while also offering resources, assistance, and support to veterans and their families. The Hall/Boat Shelter will not only serve practical purposes but will also be a venue for workshops and activities that help active duty and veteran military personnel reconnect and reignite their warrior virtues. It's a place where veterans can come together, share their experiences, and find a sense of camaraderie and warrior spirit. But how exactly will this project come to life? Let's take a look at the well-planned timeline that OWTVikingVeterans.com has set out: 1. Fundraising (until late 2024): The organization is currently focused on raising funds to support the construction of the Viking Hall/Boat Shelter. Every donation, big or small, will make a difference in helping veterans receive the care and recognition they deserve. We have received $70,000 challenge grant from the Pritzker Military Foundation that is divided into three years. Your donations tied to the Viking Hall and Boat Shelter will be matched up to that amount. 2. Finalizing design and ordering materials: Once the necessary funds to start work are secured, Odin's Warrior Tribe will work on finalizing the design of the Hall/Boat Shelter and order the required materials. This step is crucial to ensure that the structure is not only functional but also reflects the Viking heritage and spirit. We aim to maximize the use of quality wood such as white oak and cedar for durability and longevity of the Viking Hall and Boat Shelter. 3. Construction begins (2025): In 2025, the construction of the Hall/Boat Shelter will commence at the facility of our builder Leetes Island Boatworks and their sister company Handlavet in Connecticut. These skilled professional carpenters will work alongside veterans, providing them with the opportunity to learn traditional vocational woodworking skills, timber framing, and joinery. This hands-on experience will not only contribute to the project but also empower veterans with valuable skills for their future. 4. Workshops for veterans: Throughout the construction, Odin's Warrior Tribe will sponsor workshops for veterans at the construction facility. These workshops will provide a supportive environment for veterans to learn, grow, and connect with others who have shared experiences. It's a chance to reignite their warrior virtues and find a sense of belonging. During these all day workshops, we provide coffee, water, snacks, and a hearty lunch. 5. Final assembly at the Viking Camp (2026): After the construction is complete, the Hall/Boat Shelter will be broken down and transported to our Viking Camp in Maryland for final assembly. This will be a momentous occasion, as veterans who have been involved in the project will see their hard work come to fruition. It will be a symbol of their dedication and commitment to improving the lives of veterans. It will be akin to a Veteran barn raising. Our project to build a Viking Hall/Boat Shelter is a testament to their unwavering commitment to supporting for veterans. If you're passionate about supporting veterans, consider getting involved with OWTVikingVeteranssupport.com's project. Whether it's through making a donation, volunteering your time and skills, or spreading the word about their mission, every contribution counts. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who have served our country.
