Viking Hall Update: Where the Project Stands — Support the Shingle Program

The Viking Hall project continues to move forward.

At this stage, we now have enough funding to raise the basic Hall structure, level the ground, and erect it. That is major progress, and it reflects the serious commitment and generosity of those who have helped carry this project forward.

At the same time, several important elements still remain unfunded.

We do not yet have funding in place for:

  • the roof

  • the protective finish for the Hall

  • the center-hall fire pit

  • the tables and benches

So, the next phase of effort is becoming more defined.

Right now, our focus is on the roof and the finish. These are the next essential steps in protecting the Hall and bringing it closer to full use. The Hall can be raised in its basic form, but to complete it properly and preserve it well, we must now move toward funding the roofing materials and the protective finish for the structure.

Support the Shingle Program

To help move this next phase forward, we are launching the Support a Shingle program.

Here is how it works:

Sponsor 1 shingle — $36 Sponsor 3 shingles — $100 Sponsor 10 shingles — $300

For each sponsored shingle, the donor’s first initial in Elder Futhark will be burned onto the back of the shingle. In this way, the Hall is not only built by hands and materials, but also marked by the names, memory, and support of those who helped raise it.

This makes each contribution more than a donation. It becomes part of the Hall itself.

Some supporters may be able to give large amounts. Others may help one shingle at a time. Both matter. This Hall is being built piece by piece, and every act of support helps move it closer to completion.

We are deeply grateful to all who have already helped bring the project this far. More updates will follow as we continue into the next phase.

If you would like to help, please visit the donation page and note “Support a Shingle” with your contribution.
