GREAT VIKING HALL RAISING — REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN

After years of planning, fundraising, design work, permitting, and craftsmanship, the Odin’s Warrior Tribe Great Viking Hall Raising is approaching.

The Hall is being raised in Southern Maryland near Leonardtown. Upon confirmation of your registration and approval to attend, specific location information and directions will be provided.

Registration is now active through the Odin’s Warrior Tribe Veteran Support store:

Because the Hall Raising will extend over approximately two weeks, and different days will involve different activities, meals, ceremonies, and levels of support, registration is organized by individual days or groups of workdays.

Please select the date or dates you intend to attend.

NOVEMBER 2–6 — TRIBE & INVITED GUESTS

November 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are restricted to members of Odin’s Warrior Tribe and specially invited guests.

November 2–5 will initially be a relatively small receiving and work party as the builders arrive, the timbers are received, and construction of the Great Viking Hall begins.

During these first days, we will be supporting the builders, organizing the site, working on the Hall, preparing Viking Camp, and getting ready for the larger gatherings that follow.

Beginning November 5, we will begin providing dinners at Viking Camp.

NOVEMBER 6 — TRIBE WEDDING, FEAST, BLÓT & SUMBL

November 6 will include continued work on the Great Viking Hall and preparation for the following day’s Viking Day for Veterans.

That evening, we will hold a private Tribe wedding and wedding feast, followed by Blót and Sumbl.

November 6 registration is $35 per person and is limited to Tribe members and specially invited guests.

NOVEMBER 7 — VIKING DAY FOR VETERANS

November 7 is one of our major gathering days and opens attendance more broadly to approved participants.

There are two registration options.

VIKING DAY FOR VETERANS — DAY ONLY

A special $20 reduced registration is available for:

Active-duty military

Military veterans

Sworn law enforcement

Firefighters

First responders

The daytime program is expected to include:

Great Viking Hall Raising activities

Sailing aboard our Viking ship, weather and conditions permitting

Archery

Axe throwing

Kubb and other Viking and lawn games

Fellowship

Dinner

The day-only program concludes at approximately 5:00 PM.

VIKING DAY + BLÓT, SUMBL & OVERNIGHT CAMPING

Those wishing to remain for the evening and overnight may select the $55 Viking Day and Camping option.

That includes the daytime program and dinner, followed by:

Evening Blót

Sumbl

Campfire fellowship

Overnight camping

Camp facilities

Morning coffee and refreshments

This option is available to Tribe members and approved non-Tribe participants.

NOVEMBER 8

November 8 has its own registration and will include continued work on the Great Viking Hall along with Viking Camp activities.

Depending upon weather, construction progress, and conditions, activities may also include sailing or other Viking activities.

Please select the specific November 8 item in the store if attending.

NOVEMBER 9–13 — HALL-RAISING WORK DAYS

November 9 through November 13 are primarily Great Viking Hall work-party days.

The reduced work-party rate is $40 per person, per night for participants who are actively contributing to construction, site work, logistical support, or related Hall-Raising requirements.

Activities may include:

Continued construction of the Hall

Assisting builders and work crews

Site organization and cleanup

Moving and organizing materials

Construction support

Camp support

Other work as required

Dinner, overnight camping, camp facilities, and morning coffee/light refreshments will be provided as applicable.

If you wish to attend more than one work night, simply purchase the appropriate quantity.

For example:

November 9 and November 10 = quantity of two.

NOVEMBER 14 — HALLOWING OF THE GREAT VIKING HALL

November 14 will be another major ceremonial day.

We plan to formally Hallow the Great Viking Hall, with Hurstwic joining us.

The day is expected to include:

Continued work on the Great Viking Hall

Formal Hallowing of the Hall

Archery

Axe throwing

Kubb and Viking games

Fellowship

Possible sailing or preparation to haul Sæ Ulfr from the water, depending upon conditions

Feast

Blót

Sumbl

Campfire fellowship

Overnight camping

November 14 registration is $55 per person.

The exact timing and details will depend upon the construction schedule and weather, but wherever the Hall stands at that point, we intend to mark this extraordinary moment properly.

NOVEMBER 15–TBD — WORK PARTIES

Beginning November 15, we will continue holding work parties for as many additional days as necessary.

The rate will remain $40 per person, per night.

These work parties may include:

Continued construction or finishing work on the Great Viking Hall

Clearing and cleanup

Breaking down and storing Viking Camp

Winterizing the site

Boat and waterfront work

Organizing and securing equipment and construction materials

Preparing the Hall for the cedar-shingle roofing phase

Supporting roofing preparations

Whatever other work remains to be completed

If additional days are required, additional nights may be purchased.

WHY ARE THERE DIFFERENT REGISTRATION RATES?

We are working very hard to keep participation costs as low as reasonably possible.

However, supporting people at Viking Camp for nearly two weeks creates significant real expenses.

Depending upon the particular day, Odin’s Warrior Tribe will be providing or paying for:

Dinners and other meals

Coffee and refreshments

Camping facilities, including a rustic heated shower on site

Porta-potties and regular servicing

Electrical charging for phones and devices

Grounds preparation and maintenance

Firewood

Equipment and supplies

Site logistics

Cleanup and sanitation

Numerous other expenses associated with supporting the Hall Raising

We are also still actively fundraising for the Hall roof and central firepit.

The different registration rates reflect the different activities and costs associated with each day.

Except for the special reduced Viking Day for Veterans daytime rate, Tribe members and approved nonmembers will generally pay the same applicable rate.

NON-TRIBE REGISTRATION & VERIFICATION

All non-Tribe participants must complete a short Google registration and verification form.

We need to know who is attending and who is present at Viking Camp.

If you are:

Active-duty or veteran military

Sworn law enforcement

Fire service

A first responder

we will conduct a simple verification of your status.

If you are already a known friend or supporter of Odin’s Warrior Tribe, please tell us. If you have previously attended our events, volunteered with us, or donated to the Tribe, please include that information.

If you are new to Odin’s Warrior Tribe and are not military, law enforcement, fire service, or a first responder, please contact us and open a dialogue.

You may still be approved to attend once we have had an opportunity to learn more about you. If your attendance is not approved, your registration payment will be refunded.

This process is necessary because members of Odin’s Warrior Tribe and their families—including children—will be living, working, worshipping, and camping together at Viking Camp.

VIKING CAMP FIREARMS POLICY

Odin’s Warrior Tribe maintains strict rules regarding firearms on the property.

Those armed at Viking Camp are limited to sworn law-enforcement officers and individuals legally authorized to carry in Maryland whose status and armed presence are known to and approved by Odin’s Warrior Tribe.

Do not arrive at Viking Camp carrying a firearm unless you meet these requirements.

ZERO-TOLERANCE DRUG POLICY

Viking Camp has a zero-tolerance policy for illegal drugs and unlawful drug activity.

Anyone who violates this policy will be required to leave the property immediately.

Law-enforcement personnel are routinely present at Odin’s Warrior Tribe events. Depending upon the circumstances, anyone engaging in unlawful conduct may be escorted from the property, and local law enforcement may be contacted.

We have members, families, children, veterans, construction crews, and invited guests on the property. We intend to maintain Viking Camp as a safe, orderly, respectful, and drug-free environment.

AFTER YOU REGISTER

Once you register and your attendance has been verified and approved, you will receive:

Viking Camp location and directions

Arrival instructions

Parking information

Camping information

What to bring

Clothing and equipment recommendations

Meal information

Work-party information

Activity schedules as they develop

Rules and expectations for Viking Camp

Any other information specific to the dates you are attending

Please bear with us while we process registrations.

Key members of Odin’s Warrior Tribe will shortly be traveling to Norway for Viking events and activities. We will continue reviewing registrations, answering emails, and working on the Hall Raising while overseas, but responses may occasionally take a little longer than normal.

We will get to everyone.

Questions:

This is not simply another Odin’s Warrior Tribe event.

After years of work, the timbers are being cut. The frame is taking shape. Soon it will travel to Maryland.

Then we will gather at Viking Camp to raise something intended to stand long after all of us are gone.

The Great Viking Hall is coming.

Whether you are a Heathen, a Viking reenactor, a veteran looking for fellowship, or a supporter who wants to be part of something extraordinary, this will be an epic, once-in-a-lifetime event.

In November, we raise it together.
